2019 Summer of Tech Camp

Summer of Tech Detroit Camp is where inner city youth learn about coding and game design in a fun and educational environment. It is a 1-week, day-long summer camp that teaches kids in elementary (grades 3rd-5th) and middle school (grades 6th-8th) about computer science/coding and game design. Each child will learn about programming using Scratch (elementary) or JavaScript (middle) to develop a cool video game for half a day. Then they will learn about game design using Roblox Studio to create their own mini-game and world for the other half a day. There will be a maximum of 50 kids selected for the camp. In addition, they will gain 21st century skills including creative designing, critical thinking, team work, problem solving and public speaking. We require that all kids attend camp daily to obtain their certificate of completion and camp t-shirts. If your child can't commit for the entire week, then please don't register to allow other kids to have the opportunity to attend. No coding and game design experience needed.
